Get approved by Skatteverket.
With no hardware at all.
fiskaly SIGN SE is a cloud-based Control System, certified under Skatteverket’s SKVFS 2020:9 standard. Connect your platform, submit the transaction, get a control code back. That’s the entire integration, whether you’re a cash register vendor, a payment provider, or a financial company handling transactions on someone else’s behalf.
No more hardware, same compliance.
No USB device
The old way of complying with the Cash Register Act meant a physical control unit per cash register, with all the maintenance that entails. Our Control System does the same job in the cloud, no hardware to ship, install, or replace when it breaks, whether the cash register sits in your own system or belongs to a merchant whose transactions you process.
The standard others are still catching up to
We were the first provider certified under SKVFS 2020:9, Skatteverket’s current standard, and we still run a certified cluster for the older 2009:2 so nothing falls through the cracks. An external auditor reviews our operations and security every year, you get the documentation to show your own customers, partners, or regulators.
We’ve been in the cloud since 2010
In 2025, our Swedish service processed 53 million transactions with a measured uptime of 99.999%, with peaks of 2,000 transactions per minute. More than 30,000 POS systems connect every day. If you’re handling volume for thousands of merchants, as a cash register vendor, payment provider, or bank, this is infrastructure that has already proven it can handle that load.
Start in Sweden, continue across Europe
We support Sweden first and foremost, but that’s not where it ends. If you want to sell your POS into Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Portugal, or Spain, the same integration pattern carries over, you don’t start from zero in each new country. Read more at fiskaly →
How it works:
1.
A sale happens. Amount, receipt number, and VAT are ready to send, whether it’s entered into the till or passed through the payment platform.
2.
You call our API. One request, secured with an X.509 client certificate. Our typical response time: under 0.2 seconds. Link to API
3.
You get a control code back, which must be stored in your journal. On the receipt, you print the control system’s unique serial number together with the local cash register’s identity.
Going live takes three steps on our side: guided onboarding through the API, a test environment where you run through every VAT scenario until it checks out, and then production go-live with a live status page and validated certificates.
Managing hundreds or thousands of cash registers doesn’t have to become a spreadsheet exercise either, register, pause, or remove them via our web console, an Excel upload, or directly via the API.
Built for 99.999% uptime
- Two independent data centers, aligned with ISO 27001, with redundant power, fire protection, and internet connectivity
- Authentication with X.509 certificates and TLS encryption on every call
- Application firewalls on top of standard network protection, with all traffic logged for audit
- External security monitoring, around the clock
- 24/7 operations, with a public status page so you always know what we know
Frequently asked questions
Skatteverket’s name for the cloud-based version of the old control unit requirement. Every time a cash register registers a sale, it must check in with a certified system that stamps the transaction with a control code. We are that system, you just call an API instead of wiring up a physical box.
If it can connect to the internet and call an API, yes. We’re not tied to any particular POS system, payment stack, or hardware, cash register vendors, payment providers, and banks all connect the same way.
Yes. Anything that handles or processes transactions requiring a Swedish cash receipt falls under the same requirements, whether you call yourselves a cash register vendor, a payment provider, or a bank.
Pricing is usage-based: a base subscription covers support and your test environment, then you pay per connected cash register per month. Talk to us for a number that fits your volume.
Most teams get through the API guide and test environment in a few weeks, but it depends on how much of your existing transaction logic needs adjusting to match Swedish rules. Our onboarding team runs the test cases together with you, instead of leaving you to work it all out from the documentation alone.
Yes. Certification and self-declaration with Skatteverket must be complete before you can launch, and that process has its own lead time. Starting the conversation early means you won’t be rushing later.
Ready when you are.
Get a sandbox key and send your first Swedish transaction today. When you’re ready to take on other European markets, the same team, and, increasingly, the same API, comes with you.
